Travelodge by Wyndham Phoenix North

There was dirt and grime everywhere, burn marks on the blankets, a broken bathroom mirror, feces under the beds, and a front door that didn’t lock properly. Feces were also on the grounds, graffiti was everywhere, and at least two rooms had busted front windows. Even the lobby was dirty. We had to change rooms because the first smelled strongly of urine and mildew, and these pictures show the improved room. I travel a lot, and this was the most disgusting and unsafe place I’ve stayed. The customer service was the worst I’ve seen at a hotel. We arrived ten minutes before check-in and waited 20 minutes while the desk employee chatted with coworkers in another room. The staff were barely around. Within 15 minutes, the woman at the desk disappeared for a break again, and I waited another 20 minutes. The staff on site kept mean mugging us. The room was nonrefundable, so I didn’t look elsewhere.

The room had no smoke alarms, and there was no security lock on the door. The floor and lamp shades were filthy, with gross stains on the shades. The WiFi didn’t work and the TV wouldn’t turn on at all. At least there weren’t bed bugs. 🤷‍♀️

We refused to stay and asked for a refund. First they put us in a back side room with homeless people camped outside. We could see inside while it was being cleaned, and it was trashed. We asked for a room at the front but couldn’t get one, so they gave us a courtyard room instead. To get there, we had to pass more people who seemed to be homeless and backpacks along the building. The room was dirty, and the mattresses were stained so badly they belonged in the trash. It was a terrible arrival.

We left without staying and asked the front desk for a refund. The man acted like it was no big deal and said he’d sent it. The room looked like someone had been killed there, with red stains all over the floor and a door that looked kicked in. There was a broken chair and lamp, plus cigarette burns on the bed and other surfaces. I’ve never seen a place this bad still open and operating. It shouldn’t be open. Don’t book here.
