Chestnut Tree Inn

Most of the staff were respectful, though one employee came to my door banging and said, "It's time to check out. The sooner the better." That was just one person, not the rest of the staff. Some of the other tenants looked shady and violent, though that's not something the motel staff can control. The room itself was very clean, smelled nice, and had tasteful decor, especially for a budget motel. Despite that encounter, my stay was pleasant for the most part.

After a long trip, my partner and I were left waiting outside for an hour. There were comfortable lobby seats, but we weren't allowed to use them, while the man checked in guests who'd arrived after us. The room needed a lot of maintenance, and I wouldn't touch the blanket. I threw it across the room onto the floor. All in all, a really bad experience.

The place was clean and a good price. There may be a few transients around, but it didn't feel unsafe. Be sure to read the fine print if you book through a third party, because a $100 deposit is absolutely required. People checking in at the same time tried to argue about it, but the front desk woman wasn't having it. She was pleasant and efficient, though.

When a family emergency pulled me away, I accidentally left some belongings in my room. The manager secured them and kept them in Lost and Found until I could return the next day. He didn't have to do that, and I'm very grateful. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that they keep an eye on the property and protected my things. It's a simple, economical hotel near the airport, good when you just need a bed for the night. It's not perfect, but I think it's a great way to save money compared with airport options.
