HI Portland Northwest Hostel

The atmosphere was pretty decent, and the staff were welcoming and really friendly. The place was clean, too. But when I arrived, the bed was so messy that I couldn’t tell whether it had been cleaned. I checked out after just one night because of that.

There are good ways to spend time here whether you want company for the evening or some quiet after a long day of travel. The common spaces are really cool, especially the Secret Garden in back. Downstairs, the restaurant and café had a relaxed feel and great coffee, and they hold events in the commons behind the café. The location was great for walking, with bus stops only a short stroll away. My room and the bathrooms and showers were very clean. Some private bathrooms and showers are open for anyone to use, and showering there felt just like being at home. Check-in was easy, and the receptionists were helpful and easy to talk to. I only wish I’d booked more than one night. I’d definitely stay again if I’m back in Portland. 10/10.

The hostel café is popular, and there are plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby. Portland’s public transportation is great as well. Parking is available for $10 a day in the street parking zone, M. This is the only place I stay when I’m in Portland. There are lots of room choices, from dorm beds with shared bathrooms to individual rooms with private or shared bathrooms. The communal kitchen is very clean, and it’s a good spot to keep your food in the fridge.

Our class reunion group had a great time here, and everyone was happy with the facilities. The common areas gave people a place to get together, and the café was good and stayed open late. Staff were friendly and polite, and the facilities were clean and well looked after. The location in NW Portland worked well, with a safe, walkable neighborhood and the shops and restaurants on NW 21st and 23rd streets close by. The hostel offers dorms, individual rooms, and some with private bathrooms. Most of us picked individual rooms with bathrooms. I’d highly recommend Northwest Portland Hostel and will probably stay there again.
