The Benson Portland, Curio Collection by Hilton

A beautiful old building in downtown Portland, with a lovely room and loads of pillows. The bathroom was small but comfortable. The lobby has cozy spots for sitting and talking, plus a small bar that was closed while I was there but looked nice. There’s a revolving door and valet service.

The staff were incredibly friendly, and the spacious rooms had really cozy touches. The restaurant food was very good, with fair, competitive prices. It’s easy to walk to lots of city sights, including the Moda Center and waterfront. I had a great stay and highly recommend it.

I stayed here for a real estate mastermind that was held at the hotel, in a king half suite. The bar and restaurants were fantastic, and there are lots of food options within walking distance. The location is great, and valet parking is available. It’s a comfortable, grand hotel full of charm and character. I loved taking the stairs to my room, the nicest hotel staircase I’ve ever seen.

The main hall keeps its 19th-century look, while the rooms have been renovated. They’re small, but plenty big enough for one or two people. The hotel is cool. The elevator is a hassle if you’re going to the fourth floor or above: you need a key card even if you already have an e-card on your phone. Breakfast was slow too. Maybe it was just me, but we ordered at 10:27 and didn’t get our dishes until 11:10.
