Homewood Suites by Hilton Portland Airport

The front desk person was the kindest I'd met in days, after my seven-hour flight, rental car pickup, and drive to the hotel. I'm grateful for that, especially on Friday, Jan 16. We stayed a week to visit our son and were very comfortable here. The hotel could use a bit of a refresh, maybe new carpet and paint, but the washers were new. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, though it looked awesome.

An employee entered my room using her key card without knocking, even though the Do Not Disturb tag was on the door and checkout wasn't until 11 am. It was about 10:50 am, and I was packing. I asked what was happening, but she picked up her phone, told me to "hold on a minute," and walked away. I closed and locked the door and called the front desk. She came back while I was on the call and knocked. I didn't respond, and the knocking got louder and faster. The desk said they'd call her, and after she banged on the door a third time, she left. The front desk said she had gone to get her phone to use a language translator app. That doesn't explain walking in without knocking, with the Do Not Disturb sign displayed, before checkout while I was inside. Her casual manner made me wonder if she'd done this before, and how many times she'd been in my room the previous week when I wasn't there. The general manager gave me her card and said she'd credit me points, but that never happened. Points wouldn't undo the violation of what I thought was a safe, private space anyway. The empty promise showed me they don't care about guests' comfort and safety. It's kinda crazy that another review describes this Exact Same Issue. This Homewood Suites clearly does not give AF. There are lots of other hotels right next door and nearby. Stay away from this one.

I travel to Portland for work 11 days a month and have tried every airport and downtown hotel at least twice. This is the only one that's so accommodating and pleasant that staying here feels like a pleasure. This will be my third work trip booked here, with stays of five days at a time. The rooms are clean and quiet!

Our Portland trip got off to a great start at Homewood suites. The room and service were outstanding, and everyone we met was friendly, helpful, and courteous. At check-in, the reservation desk was busy, but Amirah greeted us, took care with our booking, and made sure all our questions were answered. Later, after a trip downtown, Maria picked us up at the airport rail station soon after we called. She helped us on and off the shuttle and was courteous and easy to talk with. Highly recommend this hotel.
