Inn at Portland

The staff we spoke with were very nice, but by the end of our stay we didn’t feel safe. A homeless man was sleeping outside our exit on checkout day, and we left as early as we could. The room smelled, the leather on the headboard kept peeling into the bed, and there was no screen on the window. A piece of wood was the only way to lock it. The room looked dated and not deeply cleaned. It’s cheap, but pay more for a place that’s worth it.

We needed somewhere cheap to sleep, and this worked for that. The rooms seemed clean, but they’re musty and not up to date. If you’re after a more modern room, this isn’t the place.

The rooms weren’t the best, but they were clean and fine for the price. I enjoyed my stay, especially because they let me use their car to try jump-starting mine, then let me drive it to the parts store to get a battery.

From outside, it looks like an average $100-a-night hotel. Inside, though, it’s very well kept and held to high standards. It has nothing to envy in the nearby hotels that usually charge $700 per night. Very impressive. *****
