Sentinel Hotel

We had a comfortable, clean bed, though it was a little firm, and housekeeping stopped by every day. Their timing varied. The streetcar and the occasional hot rod outside made quite a bit of noise. I’m going to find that streetcar driver who keeps leaning on the bell button. The location is hard to beat, with lots of good places nearby, and the hotel bar is nice and quiet. Check-in was quick and friendly, though the layout was a bit confusing, or maybe I was just tired. The room was very good, but central lighting control would’ve been nice. Water cost $7.50 and the minibar was empty. And you’ve got to love those big knockers.

The only small snag was getting our car from valet. They asked us to call about 15 minutes ahead so the drivers could bring it around. Each of the three times, we called, took around 15-20 minutes to get ready, then came down and still waited another 10-15 minutes. It would’ve been nice if they’d let us know about the extra wait before we headed downstairs. Otherwise, everything was good.

We had such a good five-night stay. We loved the property and were treated so well by the staff. Special thanks to Sentinal's team member Elmer for being so kind and thoughtful. I’d gladly stay again.

Our room was excellent, and the hotel is beautifully decorated. It’s not new, but it has a historic feel and sits right in authentic downtown Portland. Jake's really stood out, too: excellent food and very good service. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. The hotel itself is very nice, and I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
