Tru by Hilton Portland Airport

The beds were comfortable, and the airport location is convenient. We stayed twice in one week because of early and late flights, and the rooms made for a surprising contrast. On the first visit our room was very small, and we didn’t need a parking pass or get a Hilton Honors bag. The second time we got both a pass and a bag, and the room was quite spacious. It’s not the nicest hotel, but it wasn’t a bad choice. I’d try somewhere else next time.

The breakfast area had two broken vending machines, one for juice and one for ice cream. But our main problem was the rooms, and we want our money back after such a bad first stay at Tru by Hilton Portland Airport. We stayed three days and two nights in December 2025. Before arriving, we asked the hotel representative for a clean, quiet, non-smoking room without pet smells. The first room smelled bad, the two mattresses had an odor, noise came through the window, and the bathroom sink drain was clogged and disgusting. We couldn’t sleep well. The second room seemed to be a connecting room. At 5 a.m., an alarm in the neighboring room beeped for almost 15 minutes. There was no guest in that room then, so I guess the previous guest had forgotten to turn it off. Noise from the window was still audible. We called the front desk, but no one answered at first, so we hung up; the desk called us back afterward. We couldn’t sleep properly the second night either. Jade at concierge was the best part of the stay. Check-in got held up by glitching computers, but she worked hard to make sure we were happy. She’s a huge credit to this Hilton property.

The location right by the airport is handy, and the lobby looks nice. The bed was comfortable, but the room itself felt small and impersonal, almost like a glorified hospital room. The hotel looks very modern but isn’t especially functional. The blankets were scratchy rather than soft, and there was only one, not even a sheet. There’s no pool or hot tub, and parking costs $10. For the room price, I didn’t think it was worth it.
