DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Princeton

The booking and check-in for our large group went more smoothly than any travel team booking I've handled in two years. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and the pool and workout spaces were nice. A few doors gave us trouble, but the desk staff came right over and helped without hesitation. We'd stay here again.

We've made this hotel our annual stop for Princeton's debate tournament, and the rooms have been great each time. Kerry Gavaghen was a huge help coordinating our very large group, and having the payment details sorted out in advance was much appreciated. We loved staying here and plan to return next year. A couple of breakfast requests: it would help to have a non-dairy option like soy or almond milk at the tea and coffee stations, and some peanut butter or another spread for bagels and toast.

My main complaints were the noisy heater, which I had to keep running because the room seemed poorly insulated, and the extra charges for things like bottled water, breakfast, and wifi. There was no microwave in the room, probably my biggest annoyance. Otherwise it was a good room, with very comfortable beds, sheets, and pillows, plus plenty of towels. The mini fridge had a freezer compartment, and the coffee maker could brew two cups at once. The property seemed clean and cared for, the elevators were quick, and the friendly desk staff got me checked in promptly and gave me two cookies.

The toilets were so low that my 86-year-old mother could barely use them, which is why the room gets four stars. Ms Valerie and Mr Emmitt stepped in to help us find a solution. They were wonderful throughout, kind, patient, and understanding, and worked with me to make the Thanksgiving stay as good as possible. The cookies were a welcome touch too.
