Gifford House Inn

I had to call several times before anyone processed my refund. There didn't seem to be any concern or accountability, and no effort to fix the situation. I had booked and paid for three separate summer stays at Gifford House in Provincetown more than six months ahead, hoping to lock in good rates. Right before the busy season, they canceled all three, saying the posted rates were a mistake. They told me to accept the cancellations or pay more than double. By then, prices elsewhere had shot up, so my alternatives were very limited and expensive. The timing felt dishonest and unprofessional. Very disappointing service and poor business practice. I'd caution anyone before booking here.

The singer was great at the Caberet event during caberetfest, but the room was extremely hot and had no fans or AC. There was just one restroom for around 60 people. When we asked Gifford House staff where we could find another, they weren't accommodating. We had paid to attend, and now I'm not a fan of Gifford House.

As newlyweds visiting from South Africa, my wife and I had a much better experience at Harbor hotel. I hope Gifford House becomes more inclusive and culturally adaptable in its hospitality. We stayed here in 2024 and were impressed at first. The room's interior design was tasteful, though the chandelier felt a little tacky. The staff came across as salty, a bit like the underwhelming stuffed clams the locals seem to go on about endlessly. No shade intended. Cheers and peace be with you, friends.

This is one of my regular stops when I'm in Ptown. There are two bar areas and usually plenty of friendly people around. You can stand, sit, wander and chat or people-watch, and they often have live music, plus themed parties downstairs now and then. A really solid bar.
