The good parts: the heat and AC worked, the shower had plenty of hot water, and the bed was fairly comfortable. I saw absolutely no sign of bedbugs, which was a relief. But for $130 a night for two nights in Room 14 over October 14-15, I expected a lot more. The room was worn out and needs to be gutted and remodeled. The wood paneling was dark and cheap-looking. A cable wire hung loosely from the ceiling, the drapes dragged on the floor, the sink leaked, and the bathroom light bulbs were exposed with no shade. There was also public hair behind the faucet, apparently left by the previous guest. The TV remote didn’t fully work, and the replacement they gave me didn’t work either.

There aren’t many options in Quincy, so it is what it is. The room could use a $1k makeover. It’s an old 1950s motel that still feels stuck in that decade, and the room is dark. The walls are paper-thin, so I could easily hear the couple in the next room talking. Thankfully they weren’t very loud. The mattress is old but surprisingly comfortable, and the shower had great water pressure. The nozzle only came up to neck height, though, and I’m 5'11". The shower caulking was poorly done.

The motel was clean, comfortable, affordable, and had great service. Wi-Fi was a little slow, but it didn’t cause a problem since we were in Quincy for a funeral and didn’t spend much time there. I’d happily stay at Spanish Creek Motel again. My brother-in-law’s family needed a place at the last minute. When they asked about availability, the man at the desk, maybe the owner, called someone with a reservation who hadn’t arrived yet. That person wanted to cancel, so my brother-in-law’s family was able to stay. The motel did everything I expected and more.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but it felt dated, with wood paneling. We could hear the neighbors through the walls, which didn’t seem to have soundproofing. There were no room-darkening curtains.

We paid $90 for one night for two people and walked into a horrifyingly gross room. There were bad stains all over the carpet, chairs, and bedding. The AC blew hot air, and there was mold throughout the shower. Ceiling panels were damaged and sagging, there was mouse poop on the counter, and a dead cockroach by the front door. They gave us a coffee pot but no coffee. No refunds.
