I wouldn’t recommend this property after the way the manager spoke to me. I’m a Platinum-status guest and have spent tens of thousands of dollars at this property alone. Because I’d been late checking out a few times, the manager told me I’d have to leave a deposit. When I reminded her how much business I’d brought here, she said they normally wouldn’t even let me come back. That was disrespectful and unprofessional toward a long-term guest. Marriott Bonvoy goes out of its way to accommodate loyal customers and values repeat business. I gave Wyndham a chance, but this interaction made me feel that neither my loyalty nor my money was valued. I don’t recommend staying here.
There was hair in the tub, and it looked like the tub hadn’t been cleaned, so I couldn’t bring myself to shower. The floor hadn’t been swept, there was dry blood on the wall, and the bedspread had several burn marks even though this was a non-smoking room. Cobwebs ran around the ceiling. Looking at the bedding and bathroom, I honestly don’t believe the room had been properly cleaned or prepared before I arrived. It raised real concerns for me about hygiene, safety, and basic room standards. (Pictures) I wanted to check out right away and get a full refund because of the room’s condition. I also emailed corporate, as the manager told me to. Update 12/22: The manager gave no meaningful response, which I expected from how she acted in person, and the operator was dismissive. I’ve reported the hotel to the Board of Health and the Attorney General. Based on earlier reviews, this seems long overdue. Stay here at your own risk. Last update 1/3: Recent reviews make it look like the rooms are still in the same shape, but I did get my money back. Report them to the health department and the attorney general, since those agencies can make sure the hotel is held accountable. Clean rooms are what they advertise and the bare minimum they should provide. I also noticed that my review was the only one that didn’t get an apology. That’s fine, because local agencies stepped in and made sure I was refunded in the end. A huge thank-you to the North Carolina government agencies that helped me!
The bed was comfortable and we fell asleep quickly. The shower had good hot water, and the blackout window covering kept the room dark in the afternoon. I also liked the bathroom mirror with wraparound lighting for makeup, plus the full-length mirror. Traffic noise faded later in the evening. This is fine for one night, but I wouldn’t choose it for several days of vacation. It’s close to I440, so trucks, Harleys, and rice rockets are loud as they pass. The PTAC fan was so noisy it startled us each time it kicked on. The bathroom GFCI outlet didn’t work, and the tub spigot was broken.
For the price, it’s a great deal. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. They’re older, but nicely painted. Traffic gets loud late at night, especially on weekends, and the a/c is noisy.
The staff were wonderful and the rooms were great. I’d been told breakfast was included, but it turned out to be just muffins, apples, and coffee. The location is excellent unless you’re a light sleeper. I work nights and heard sirens all night. They didn’t bother me, though they might bother someone else.
