Extended Stay America Suites Raleigh Midtown

The only good part was the free entertainment when five police cars came to deal with something outside. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone traveling with kids or by themselves. There were stains all over the floor. Our key stopped working and left us locked out for an hour. We called the front desk ten times using the phone they told us to use, but got no answer. In the end we had to knock on the office door to get a new key. They didn't ask for a name, just the room number, so anyone could have gotten a key to our room.

Cheneka is the star of this stay. I'm disabled, and when the elevator was out on a day I had an appointment, she and another resident, Bubbles, helped me down the stairs. I was scared, but Cheneka calmed me one step at a time. I'll never forget her kindness and patience. She shows that same care every day she's working. I've never seen her without a smile, and I appreciate how she proves she cares through her actions as well as her words. A great experience here!

After a 12-hour drive from New York, we reached the hotel in the middle of the night because of unexpected delays. About ten hours earlier, we had called to make sure a late check-in would be possible. The front desk woman clearly told us not to worry and that the night attendant could check us in at any time. When we arrived, we called the night attendant and were told our reservation had been automatically canceled because we hadn't shown up. The person on the phone refused even to try to contact the night attendant. We were still charged the full price for the night. How can a hotel be unable to handle a late arrival when travelers get delayed? And why did the desk clerk tell us otherwise? If I could give a lower rating, I would. Never go here. Now I'm going to sleep in my car.

The staff were generally nice, but loud disturbances kept going even during quiet hours while I and other guests were trying to sleep. One guest played the TV and music so loudly I couldn't hear my own TV. I told the front desk and emailed management, but nothing changed. I also asked to move rooms and wasn't accommodated, though I'm not sure another part of the hotel would have been quieter. I could smell weed outside and coming from several rooms. The elevator was out of service several times. The hotel is very old and could use renovations, and it needs to enforce quiet hours and deal with noisy guests better.
