Quality Inn & Suites Richburg I-77

The pool was closed, which seemed a little late in the year for it to be shut. The stay itself had been ordinary until a staff member woke us around 12:30 a.m. by banging loudly on the door. She said there was a strong marijuana smell in the hallway and asked if we were smoking. I said we weren’t, but when she followed up with, “Are you sure?” it felt like she didn’t believe me. We’d gone to bed around 9 so we could get up early and continue our drive from Ohio back to Florida. I told her we were exhausted and thought the smell must be coming from another room. She said she needed to come in and check the smell herself. I wasn’t comfortable with that or her attitude, but I let her step in briefly because we just wanted to get back to sleep. She left once she found no odor in our room, without apologizing or saying anything else. It left a very unprofessional impression after what had otherwise been a normal stay.

We stopped for the night at the last minute and were given room 138. After getting ready for bed, we turned on the air conditioner and lay down, but it made a noise every half hour all night. We were exhausted and already in our nightclothes, so we put up with it. I stay at Choice hotels all the time and usually love them. This noise must have been going on for a while. I told the young woman at the front desk.

We had a really comfortable king room and enjoyed our stay. The bedding and room were very clean, and breakfast was nice and hot. We plan to come back soon.

Nothing fancy here, but it felt clean and safe. Breakfast wasn't worth stopping for, and there was no fresh coffee in the lobby. Check your bill for charges like the safe surcharge.
