Baymont Inn & Suites by Wyndham Richmond

The room was dirty, the sink had black gunk in it, and the air conditioner wasn't working right. I didn't want to bring it up because the woman at the front desk had already been rude. That was the worst part of a stay that was already a letdown. I've been coming here for six years, and the old staff from last year were much better. We signed up for text messages to get 10% off, and the person who took our reservation, maybe a manager, quoted us a better price. But when we arrived, they wouldn't apply the advertised discount. With the Saturday light show going on, they doubled the rates. Maybe that would make sense at a five-star hotel, but this isn't one. The front desk clerk should have honored the discount instead of arguing with a customer. This happened on 6/6/26.

A quiet stay, with friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was great. No frills, just a little gem of a small-town hotel. We'd definitely recommend it.

We left and found another place because the lobby and parking lot were filthy, and the front desk service was a mess. The lobby carpet, furniture, and counter were smeared with food and drink, and when we walked in, we had to call out to get anyone's attention. We already had a reservation, but staff first said they couldn't find it. Once we showed the confirmation from American Airlines and Rocket Travel, suddenly they had it. We ended up at a Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton in McHenry, Illinois, where everything was clean, well maintained, and well stocked, and the staff were friendly and helpful. That's what a hotel and guest service should look like. When I called Baymont Inn back to ask for the manager's name, they refused. I asked for the name of the person I was speaking with, and she wouldn't give it either. I wrote to Baymont Inn by Wyndham corporate customer service and still haven't heard back. American Airlines and Rocket Travel did respond and gave us a refund. Save your money and look in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, or McHenry, Illinois for a clean, organized, welcoming place.

The motel was warm, and the staff were nice. The cleaning crew was wonderful, too. But the door doesn't fit right, so you hear noise from the hall, and the beds are hard. My back is killing me. I've slept better in my van.
