Civic Center Motel

The rooms are roomy, and the motel is okay. Housekeeping comes around at 11am every day, but on a stay longer than a day, don’t count on them cleaning or bringing toiletries unless you ask. The staff are cool once you get to know them, though it took about as long as my month-long stay for them to warm up to me. Curfew is strict and security enforces it at 10 pm, NO GUESTS!

There’s security watching the parking lot all night now, and the maids wear uniforms. The place is now called Motel 6- Civic Center, and things seem better since my last visit. I booked through a third-party site, which said the room had a bathtub. That surprised me since they’ve always only had showers, but I figured Motel 6 might have made a change. No, none of the rooms have tubs. I paid a little extra for one, so whoever handles the third-party listings, I’m guessing Motel 6, needs to get the information in sync. A refund of the difference or even future credit would’ve been nice. The office guy is nice, but he didn’t know anything about it. Heads up, the deposit is $100 and cash only.

The room itself was decent apart from the concrete-hard bed. The AC worked, the shower was hot, and the guy was nice. But the neighborhood’s rough, parking isn’t great, the pillows suck, and there was no smoke detector. There was no WiFi either. Definitely not worth it.

The motel is close to shopping, food, and the library, and the beds were pretty comfortable despite not having proper bedding. But there’s no WiFi, although the site says it’s free, and the room and bathroom are both dark. I had to open the window to get enough light. The bathroom is small, and wires hang in both it and the room. Staff treated people who are truly down on their luck with prejudice. I had to give away two of my dogs just to have somewhere to sleep. They charge much more and don’t honor my6 app specifications. There’s no security, so people slam doors, fight, and yell day and night, and sometimes do drugs out in the open.
