I couldn’t stay because of health concerns. Both rooms I was given had a strong mold and mildew smell, and I started feeling tightness in my chest. I explained it to the front desk and contacted customer service, but they still wouldn’t refund me. I know hotels can have maintenance problems, but refusing to address a legitimate health concern is unacceptable. Bring full face respirators and plastic bags for your clothes, so mold spores don’t get into your home. I’m sleeping in my truck by the side of the road in a rainstorm tonight instead of staying there.

The woman who checked us in was kind, polite, and friendly, the one good part of our stay. Everything else was awful. The room was in disrepair, there was no shampoo, and the refrigerator sounded like a jet engine. But the guests on either side were the worst. They were loud, banging things around, and had no respect for anyone. The men in room 123 were drunk and partying until 3:30 am. I was completely sleep deprived and would rather have slept in my car. We usually choose Choice Hotels while traveling from NH to Florida, but this Quality Inn in Ridgeland, SC was the worst place I’ve paid to stay overnight. If you’re traveling in South Carolina, steer clear.

The rooms were neat, the linens really clean, and the staff accommodating. There were plenty of breakfast options too, so I’d highly recommend staying at quality inn. I’d read all the negative reviews before checking in and still wanted to try the property because it had an indoor pool. To my surprise, it wasn’t like the reviews I’d seen online.

The front desk tried to charge more than the website said I owed, claiming the taxes would add 25%. The shower had used soap and hair in it, the walls were filthy, and the ice maker didn’t work.

The soft hand rags and towels were nice, and the freezer was separate from the refrigerator. The AC unit sounded funny, but it worked well enough for me, even with menopause. The bed in room 114 was firm. Shower pressure was awful and the tub looked dingy. There’s no outdoor pool, and the indoor one was closed. To me, this is a place to sleep, without extras or luxury. We barely interacted with staff, so I can’t say much about the service. What we got was basic.
