Days Inn by Wyndham Rock Hill

For a budget stay, this is a decent place to lay your head for a night. The room was clean, smelled pleasant, had clean sheets, and had a moderate, simple decor with the essentials. Check-in was quick, and the person who greeted me was pleasant and focused on getting me settled. Outside, the low lighting and dated exterior looked a little sketchy, so stay aware. The night was mostly quiet, apart from the occasional person passing by. I’d recommend it if you need a clean, comfortable place at a reasonable price.

We stayed three days and hoped to add another night, but this turned into one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I was in touch with the front desk while trying to get the money together. Instead of handling it professionally, the man refused to check us back in and yelled at me as if I were an inconvenience. He said the room smelled, even though we’d booked a smoking room and it smelled like smoke when we arrived. That excuse felt ridiculous and dishonest. The staff’s attitude was rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional from beginning to end. When I called to ask him to email me so I could process a refund and book somewhere else, he refused and yelled again instead of doing the basic part of his job. If you want staff who treat you like garbage and show no respect, book here. If you expect basic customer service or simple decency, stay anywhere else. This place clearly doesn’t care about its guests.

The guy who checked us in was absolutely delightful. The rest of the stay had people hanging around on the steps the whole time, a ceiling that was peeling, and a sound like a dryer running in the ceiling. They also had tiny square pillows, and the toilet sat ridiculously low to the ground. Don’t stay here.

There’s a pool, and we didn’t catch bed bugs, so there’s that. But our room only had two towels, and when I went to ask the man at the office for extras, he acted like I’d asked for his kidney. After a dramatic trip to the laundry room, he found two more, maybe the last two towels the hotel owned. The desk chair looked like it had been through the Iraq war, and there were mysterious brown spots on the bathroom walls.
