Rockford Alpine Inn and Suites

Shannon at the front desk was kind and helpful, especially for us Texas transplants, and maintenance got to issues quickly. The rooms have a roomy layout, and the staff are friendly. There’s affordable laundry onsite, and the hotel is near bus stops and downtown.

Staff were really friendly whenever I dealt with them. They accidentally deleted my original reservation, but worked with me to sort it out. The location was convenient, not too far from downtown. I stayed in a renovated king room. It was spacious and suited my needs, with polyester sheets, an extra fleece blanket, and a temperature control that handled both heat and AC well. All the rooms are on the ground floor, which I hadn’t realized from the website. Alpine Inn is a decent cheaper option in the area. The sheets were clean and stayed free of ants, and I didn’t see other bugs. But the carpet hadn’t been vacuumed when I arrived, though it was later, and several corners weren’t very clean. On my first evening, ants appeared on the nightstand even though I hadn’t left food out. It looked like a previous guest might have splashed soda around. When I wiped things down, the nightstand, the inside of the lampshades, and the temperature control were all covered. There was also hair and dust collected at the bed’s headboard. The tub was plain but drained surprisingly well, and the water pressure was good. They provided bars of soap, no shampoo or conditioner. My room had a small TV, microwave, mini fridge, plenty of cabinets, and two closet areas, but no hairdryer, safe, or alarm clock.

The staff were extremely nice, especially given what they had to work in. We were able to switch rooms after ours smelled strongly of weed. The stay still felt sketchy. A mom slept in her car outside our room for hours while her kids ran around the parking lot and lobby, and the area smelled like cigarettes and weed. The listing also gave a misleading impression: it advertises continental breakfast, but there isn’t one, and the pictures show indoor hallways even though the rooms are all outside. For the money, it might do in a pinch, but the listing was deceptive.
