Travel Inn Rockford

I only stayed because my landlord was generously paying after the electricity went out at home, and I have no complaint about him. The motel was filthy and stank. There was used women’s underwear in the drawer, no hot water, peeling wallpaper, and the paint needed work. The desk looked ready to fall over if I sneezed, and the deadbolt didn’t work, with no other lock on the door. Wi-Fi showed a connection, but every page I tried failed to load because it was taking too long. I kept my shoes on and slept fully dressed on top of the covers. I was there from the night of 6/10/17 until the morning of 6/12/17. One star feels like a joke, half a star at best, and that’s only because the AC worked and there was basic cable.

The front desk gentleman was very kind, but that didn’t make me feel any safer. I smelled weed, saw a cigarette butt on the floor, and the room was nasty and creepy. I was afraid for my life and didn’t stay there. My friends helped me go back for my things, then I stayed with them. It may be a drug house. Do not book!

The one good thing was that the bed linens were clean. The carpets in the double room looked like they hadn’t been cleaned since the place was built, the bathroom sink wasn’t clean, and the AC didn’t work in the upper 80s. I only ended up there because every hotel in Rockford was booked that weekend in July ’15. I booked through Hotwire, but the desk guy told me and another online guest there were no vacancies. After we argued, he offered me a jacuzzi room for $99 instead of its regular $109. I said no, I wanted the Hotwire price I’d paid, $40. He kept trying to get me to cancel online, but I wouldn’t. We were eventually given a double bed room. Dirty, outdated, shady staff. Don’t waste your time.

The staff was great, but the motel was nasty. Most of the beds and rooms have bed bugs. I told the front desk guy, and he just moved us to another room. They travel, hello! After he moved me a third time, I decided to leave. Beware of bed bugs. The bathrooms were moldy and disgusting, and breakfast was only cereal, milk, and OJ. The hallways smelled like cigarettes, weed, and some weird stench.
