Quality Inn & Suites Detroit Metro Airport

After my heat went out during a night when it was negative 11, I just needed somewhere warm to sleep. The first hotel I tried was overbooked. A kind woman I called offered to look around for another place on short notice. I explained that my budget had to include incidentals, and she spoke to the hotel and came back with a price. I guess they hadn't mentioned the $100 incidental charge. I was relieved and booked, then drove all the way there only to learn I had to pay more after already paying. If they'd given her the right information, I never would have booked. I was out money, and nobody else tried to help. With limited funds, I couldn't afford another hotel and had to return to my freezing home. I'd have liked to give an actual review of the stay, but that never happened.

We stayed here 13 years ago, and it was very nice then. Unfortunately, it's gone downhill. Everything looks worn, dingy, and stained, though I think they get it as clean as they can. I saw no signs of pests. The beds were clean and comfortable, but came with just a sheet, a blanket, and four small pillows. There is an airport shuttle you can schedule. For some people, it might be adequate if all you need is a place to sleep and a basic bathroom.

The bathroom had a stained, disgusting shower, backwards temperature controls, peeling paint, and no sink stopper. Don't drop jewelry in there or you'll never see it again. The heat and AC ducts had what looked like mold growing in them and large clumps of dust in the vents. The wall sconce shades were stained with black spots that looked like mold, plus other questionable marks that could possibly have been bodily fluids. That's what I found within 30 minutes of checking in. I'm sure I'll find more after posting.

The building was extremely dirty and in very bad, worn-out condition, including the room. The shower curtains had visible fungus, probably because they aren't really washed. The hallway carpets were full of dirt and trash, and people were smoking at the entrance. I could smell tobacco in some hallways too. Even though I already had a reservation, it took them a long time to give me a room. The parking lot was small and full. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
