Rodeway Inn Roswell West

The room had a rickety bed frame, and housekeeping had left a dead rodent there before I checked in. I only meant to mention it quietly at checkout so they could deal with it, but the front desk woman with the patchy mullet was nasty and rude when I told her. I didn’t catch her name. The host who checked me in was nice, pets were allowed, and the price was low. I’m usually easygoing and wasn’t looking to make a fuss. This was the only bad part of an otherwise fun visit to a fantastic city, but I wouldn’t recommend the hotel. Between that interaction and the rodent, it seems there may be a problem.

The woman at the front desk was very nice, but the shower head was held up with duct tape and the ice machine badly needs replacing. The ice came out inconsistently, some crushed and some huge. I’d stayed at a Rodeway before and was pleasantly surprised, so I thought Choice might be upgrading them. This one wasn’t the nicest stop on my trip out west. I’d paid less for a much nicer Comfort Suites in Lubbock, Texas. I don’t think I’ll try a Rodeway again.

I got into my room quickly, but barely slept. Men standing outside their rooms whistled and waved for me to come over, which scared me. I felt the place wasn’t suitable for families or people traveling alone. The room wasn’t maintained, and the bathroom was so gross I didn’t even shower. I was worried the bed might have bedbugs and didn’t want to wake up with anything crawling on me. As soon as it got light, I left. Only stay here as a last resort. Otherwise, keep going.

I expected to feel like a guest, but instead I was treated like a criminal. They wouldn’t let me pay to extend my stay, then had police escort me off the property for “trespassing.” For a place with crosses and all that talk about the Lord, the behavior felt hypocritical and dishonest. I’m not usually outrageous or unfair in my reviews, and I’ve never experienced such outright discrimination. I’d give it zero stars if I could.
