The Inn At Harbor Shores

The location made it easy to walk out for dinner and exploring, and we enjoyed those walks each morning and evening. We had breakfast every day at Rise & Shine cafe, with great service and bagel sandwiches we loved. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our four-night stay, and the room exceeded my expectations: large, with a comfortable bed, a little living area with couch and desk, and a lovely balcony overlooking the water. I was pleasantly surprised by the gym. It’s small, but better equipped than the Google or TripAdvisor pictures suggest, and I had it to myself the whole stay. There are two treadmills, a bike, two ellipticals, dumbbells up to 25 pounds, a cable machine, and a gym cage for pull-ups and hanging core work. Highly recommend staying here when visiting St. Joseph/Benton Harbor!

We’d been to Saint Joseph, Michigan many times without stopping here, but finally found this little gem. The staff were so welcoming, and our waitress was kind and attentive. We got a cozy corner seat by the fireplace, which gave the place a perfect Christmas feeling. The ambience was lovely as soon as we arrived. Thanks for such a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely be back in spring and summer, and highly recommend it!

The dirtiest thing was the jacuzzi, which wasn’t clean or properly maintained. It felt disgusting and like they were risking our health. When we told the manager, he looked at us as if nothing was wrong and didn’t even apologize. The coffee machine didn’t work either. The hotel is being renovated, but nobody mentioned that when we reserved. Staff and managers were rude and unhelpful. Avoid this place, even if it looks nice.

The elevator is incredibly slow, and dogs are only allowed in the condos, which cost much more per night than the hotel rooms. Those are my only complaints. I’ve stayed at The Inn at Harbor Shores a few times while visiting family around St. Joe. This past weekend they had a Sunday Santa brunch on the second floor. I didn’t eat at the brunch, but while babysitting we went to see Santa and got complimentary hot chocolate. Santa looked great, the cocoa was delicious, and the hotel was beautifully decorated for the holiday. The staff were friendly as always. I’ve enjoyed lunch and dinner at Plank's Tavern and their outdoor tiki bar with a water view. The rooms are nice and updated, there’s a cafe that opens early for espresso drinks, and the hot tub is awesome because it extends outdoors. Relaxing in it during a Michigan snowfall is fun.
