Salida Inn & Monarch Suites

The rooms were clean and had a fridge, coffee maker, and microwave, and the views from the hotel were beautiful. Everyone we dealt with at the front desk, all three people, was friendly and gave us great suggestions for places to eat and shop. It's right on the main drag, about five minutes from historic downtown, with lots of shops and places to eat and drink. The place was super cute, and I'd happily come back.

We'd paid almost $300 and driven three hours after calling ahead to ask whether two adults could stay with two 17-year-olds without a guardian. We were told it was fine. But when we arrived and handed over our IDs, the manager said we couldn't stay. I explained the phone call, and she didn't care. She said they don't have a direct phone line, so I still don't know who I spoke with or why that number is listed for this hotel. The way she treated us was the worst part. Four young adults were turned away aggressively, with nowhere to go and no suggestion of another place. It took us hours to find somewhere to sleep, and the place we ended up at didn't feel safe. I understand there may be a policy, but employees need to know it. Please be kinder to four kids who are hours from home with nowhere to stay.

We had a spacious, comfortable room with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa that gave us a nice extra seating area. The front desk staff were really friendly and accommodating. The Hot Springs pool is only about a block away and was great for an afternoon or evening visit. The price was good, and we'll stay here again when we're in the area.

We had a three queen bed room for two adults and three teenagers, and it was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with enough toiletries for all five of us. We stayed one night at Monarch Inn and found the service and communication exceptional, with very attentive customer service. Breakfast is a quick grab-and-go. A waffle maker would be my only suggestion. Thanks for having us, and I'd definitely stay again if I'm back in the area.
