We were in Salina for the annual CMA Rally and only needed a clean, comfortable place to sleep for one night. The location was good, the rooms were well lit at night, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Mine had an overwhelming stale cigarette smell, small space, and a mattress that was very uncomfortable, with one side broken down. My friend's room didn't have those problems, though the walls needed fresh paint. It looks like they're refurbishing and replacing things, and that takes time, but mattresses, Kilz, and fresh paint matter if they want return guests. It met our needs since we weren't there beyond sleeping, and overall it looked like work was underway.

The reception lady was very nice, and we'd enjoyed this quiet location before. But this latest stay was horrible, and we won't come back. We killed at least 35 flies in the room when we arrived and still saw a few during our short stay. It was filthy: thick cobwebs in one corner that looked untouched for months, sticky floors, and dog food and other crumbs in every corner. The door was very difficult to operate. Outside, the grass was up to two feet high, with nowhere mowed to walk our dog. Next to neat, tidy commercial businesses, the place looked abandoned. I didn't complain because it honestly seemed like nobody was making any effort to maintain it.

The price was cheap, but the room was so bad I started cleaning it myself. There were roaches, the toilet seat had hairs I don't want to think about and piss on it, and the shower wasn't clean. One bed looked like someone had just finished some personal business, with the sheets and blankets not properly fixed. My semi truck had broken down, so I moved to the hotel next to Ihop for 4 more days. Roadway Inn was the much better option.

The friendly clerk and good lighting outside were the only positives. The hotel grounds were completely unkept, with grass two feet tall and nowhere to walk a dog. The door latch was very hard to use, and there were flies all over the room. We killed 35 but still had a couple during our overnight stay. Inside, the floor and surfaces were filthy, and there were cobwebs in the corners. The bed was old and lumpy, with cigarette burns in a non-smoking room. The TV didn't work. Absolutely disgusting.

The room was standard for a motel6, with a fridge, microwave, table and two chairs, and two pillows per bed. The pillows were all different: flat, lumpy, airy, and one in a strange zippered case with another case inside. It skeeved me out, so I didn't use that one. The bathroom was clean enough, though there were a few hairs in the shower and mold built up on the curtain. Water pressure was fine, and it got very hot. Though just off the highway, the place is tucked away and hard to see from a distance. I arrived just before Midnight. The lobby was closed, but the clearly marked night check-in window got me help right away. There was a vending machine and a pay washer, but the dryer was out of service. I got a second-floor room, which I wasn't thrilled about with two cats. Maybe there weren't many choices that late. The open staircase was wet from the rain and exposed to the elements. Open back stairs make me nervous, and carrying my things up and down several times felt unsafe. The highway was fairly loud from the room, with cars on wet pavement and the occasional truck whirring by.
