Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Salt Lake City-Airport West by IHG

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the King Suite had enough space for the two of us plus a small pull-out couch. We were in town for a work conference. It felt a bit dingy, but did the job. The mini fridge hummed constantly and sometimes made a strange noise. The toilet didn't flush well, and when the shower got steamy it smelled of mildew. Part of the shower wall needed repair, and the shower head looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in a while. Breakfast wasn't worth $15, and there aren't nearby restaurants either. The pool was cold, while the hot tub was only warm enough to sit in, not relax. I'd stay again for a conference, but not with family or if I planned to spend more time in the room.

The price seemed low, and apart from the bed the rooms were great, though the views were horrible. The bed had red, black, blue, and yellow fuzzies all over it. I'd strongly suggest buying snacks and drinks before settling in for the night. There weren't any cups in the room, so getting water there wasn't an option. They do provide a fridge and microwave, but a bottle of water downstairs in the lobby costs $3, and they don't take cash. If you've spent your last few dollars on the room or scraped together change just to quench your thirst, you're out of luck. The water felt overpriced, and cash apparently isn't accepted here.

One receptionist was rude. When I reported a nail sticking up from my floor and asked for maintenance, she told me after an hour and a half that there was no maintenance staff that evening. I then asked to change rooms, and she was angry and rude about it. The pool is tiny and cold, and charging a parking fee is ridiculous.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, though I could hear some airport noise. Breakfast was very good and offered plenty of choices. Emily at the front desk was fantastic, and booking the shuttle was easy. It arrived on time even in bad weather.
