Super 8 San Angelo

We were driving down from Dallas and arrived after 1 a.m. with nowhere to stay. I tried booking the first available place without reading the reviews, but luckily my wife looked while I was at reception. We asked to see the room and found roaches. The receptionist was accommodating and polite, even though it seemed we’d woken him up, so I gave two stars. We thanked him for being flexible and went elsewhere. We had no chance to plan ahead and ended up paying three times as much, but were very happy with the alternative. Don’t wait until the last minute if you can help it, and book somewhere reputable. Don’t be fooled by the cheap price. They need to resolve the roach infestation before you stay here.

This was the only motel I could find that would check me in before 3. There were lots of roaches, so I had to buy spray. The housekeeper hadn’t cleaned well, and I used my own bleach cleaner on the toilet and tub. The sheets were stained, and it took ten minutes for the hot water to warm up. I showered with the faucet turned all the way to hot.

Housekeeping has been amazing, and some of the service we’ve gotten has been okay. The son is amazing, but the dad not so much. Just being honest, this is the second worst motel I’ve ever stayed in.

We were stuck because it was the start of the stock show, everywhere was booked, and we couldn’t find another hotel. We were very disappointed by how unclean the rooms were, and didn’t think they met even basic cleaning and sanitizing standards. One room had a strong cigarette smell despite our non-smoking reservation. The bathroom was dirty, with a dirt ring around the tub that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Towels and face cloths were stained, and the bed linens looked as if someone had already slept in them. The blankets were exceptionally thin, and when we asked for an extra, the front desk said none were available. There were no drinking glasses or tissues. We bought Lysol and bleach wipes to clean surfaces, plus new towels for our own use because we didn’t feel the supplied ones had been properly washed. This location is a disgrace to the Wyndham brand. If we’d found space elsewhere, we would have left in a heartbeat.
