Courtyard by Marriott Medical Center San Antonio

The room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, with a huge TV. The bathroom was average in size, but the shower was roomy and worked fine. It’s also in an accessible spot, close to University Medical Center, with lots of restaurants nearby. Check-in was incredibly late, but it went smoothly, and the front desk staff were great throughout. I’d definitely come back! Olympic Otter

I slept comfortably on the bed and pillows, and the room was clean. The wall temperature control was easy to reach beside a light and responded well. I couldn’t hear people in the neighboring rooms, though I could hear them once they were out in the hallway, so the walls seem to block sound pretty well. The front desk agent was efficient, professional, and accommodating when assigning me a room, while also showing sincere empathy and humor. I got a practical room at a practical price, which isn’t really a complaint.

The room was okay, and the location wasn’t bad. We had a nice view of the pool, though I wish it had been open. What really bothered us was the housekeeper removing the Do not disturb sign, entering our room anyway, and then lying about it. The front desk agent at the time said the housekeeper hadn’t noticed the sign until afterward, and made us feel wrong for being upset. If she hadn’t noticed it, why take the whole sign with her? It seemed like she just didn’t want to get assigned another room if we declined service. We didn’t feel safe or secure after that.

The front desk staff were kind and helpful, but I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The room smelled damp and musty, a few long black hairs were in the sheets, and the desk chair was stained. The wall switch plates were crooked, the hair dryer was cracked, the luggage rack was extremely worn, and some hangers were broken or incomplete. Shower water flowed out of the bathroom and into the room’s hallway. There’s no free breakfast or lobby coffee. Breakfast costs about $16, and my egg order, placed at 6:15 before the 6:30 opening, didn’t arrive until 7:10. I was the first person to order on Monday morning. Forty minutes is a long wait for people trying to get to work or the hospital. The hotel also has a contract with a “sleep study clinic,” and staff rolled carts around outside my door after 11 PM.
