SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western San Antonio North

The place is pretty worn, and breakfast wasn't much: bread, mini donuts, and yogurt, like they'd just picked it up at Costco. The evening desk guy wasn't personable either. The hallway smelled like marijuana, and the neighbors were very loud at random points during the night. I also suspected some shady activity next door. For the first couple nights, I had to finish showering in about three minutes before the hot water ran out. It wasn't too bad otherwise.

Check-in took at least ten minutes of waiting, and nobody was at the front desk when I needed help. The service wasn't friendly, and the person who helped us had such a poor attitude that it looked like he didn't want to be there anymore. He needs training in customer service and people skills. I won't use this location again.

The room smelled of cigarettes and looked like it had been patched up in several places. I expected better standards from a Best Western, and one evening there was enough to put me off returning unless renovations happen. Please look at the photos of the patch work. The staff also hung up on me when I tried to reserve by phone. Management photocopied my ID, which seemed very strange, and I'll be emailing corporate about it.

I never actually stayed there. I booked through Expedia at 1:54 a.m., tired and driving at the last minute, and didn't realize I'd reserved the following night by mistake. I got to the hotel around 2:52 a.m. and explained what happened. The desk clerk was extremely rude and dismissive. Even though less than an hour had passed, he wouldn't adjust the date. He said I could ask Expedia to cancel, but wouldn't get a refund. He insisted that if I wanted to stay that night, I'd have to pay again. The hotel also smelled foul, and the floors and walls looked dirty with grimy residue. It was a terrible experience, with poor service and no professionalism. It felt like money mattered more than customer satisfaction. Make this your last option if you can't find somewhere closer.
