Golden Star Inn

It's on the original Route 66, and the lighting setup is kind of interesting. The rest was a mixed bag: the room cost $90, wifi barely worked, and sunlight came through a huge gap under the door. Traffic was easy to hear, even electric vehicles. The TV was tiny with only around 60 channels, and there may or may not be a remote. The bed was hard.

There were roaches all over the room, crumbs on the bed, dirty walls and things left on the tables. The toilet paper had pee on it, and the smell was awful. The guy at the front desk acted like he didn't care, and the woman had a terrible attitude. I even took videos of how disgusting it was.

It's affordable and has good TV channels, plus a fridge. But the only microwave for the whole building is outside. We were there two nights and got no housekeeping or towels by night two, though I was glad I'd brought my own. I also noticed there weren't any shampoo packets.

The location was just okay, not alarming exactly, but it didn't feel especially safe or welcoming. I was there with my kid in room 111. The bathroom had cockroaches, the room smelled so strongly of smoke I felt nauseous, and the blanket had burn marks. The office guy wasn't mean, just blunt and not very friendly. It wasn't a great interaction.
