The room was relatively clean, and it worked well enough as a place to sleep while we spent most of our time around town and at the beach. Parking was crappy. I was close to giving the place four stars, since my partner and I got the night for $70, which seemed like a good deal. But the price on our paperwork and the email confirmation didn't match what they charged. They overcharged our card by almost $100, and the numbers didn't add up even if you included the deposit. We left the room clean and took out the trash, then waited for them to fix it. They never did, so we had to dispute the charge with the card company. If you stay here, use a credit card company that'll take your side, and keep a copy of your reservation.

I slept really well here. The bed was very comfortable, the room was quiet and spacious, and the view over the palm trees was amazing. There were two beds, so you could sleep alone or with your partner. The reception couple were friendly. I only took off a star because there were strands of hair on the bathroom floor, maybe the cleaner forgot to sweep it. I'd stay again.

This was the worst motel booking experience I've had, and I travel a lot. I booked three nights and was delayed by one night for reasons I couldn't avoid. I called the motel to ask them to hold the reservation and said I was still happy to pay for all three nights. They agreed. When I got to San Diego, I tried calling for hours to confirm the booking, but no one answered. Eventually a woman picked up, spoke very poor English, and kept telling me they were sold out, even though I kept saying I had a reservation. I was also about to extend my stay for two weeks. Stay anywhere but here.

The location was good, but the room was the worst motel room I've stayed in. It was dirty and poorly maintained: the floors were sticky enough that I didn't want to go without shoes, the shower had mold, and there was trash under the bathroom sink and in the bin from the previous guest. The walls were visibly filthy, and the windows had no screens.

The manager was really accommodating. She showed me a room before asking for any money, and the new sheets and blankets are now in every room. Room 9b actually had a simmons in it, and a brand new bed. They're remodeling under new management, so it's still a temporary situation, but all the rooms are going to be redone. The location is in the best area for La Jolla, and within walking distance of one of the best beaches around. If you can put up with things as they are for now, this could be an amazing gem to return to. I'd recommend it highly. FYI, the "MAN" manager is no longer here.
