Sheraton La Jolla Hotel

Christian Ramos made check-in a good experience. He was helpful in arranging a room for our autistic daughter and newborn, and we’re very satisfied with it. I really appreciate his help. This hotel is Autism friendly!!!

The hotel was nice, and for the price it was better than we expected, especially since it looks like it’s been recently redone. We got some Elite benefits, too. The beds were comfy, everything was clean, and there seemed to be lots of people around the property busy taking care of things. There are separate buildings, so it’s worth figuring out where to park in relation to your room.

I liked being up on the hill, away from the city’s hustle and bustle, and the rooms were clean with a nice villa feel. The gym was small but had what I needed to work out while away from home. I do wish there were a bathroom inside the gym, so I wouldn’t have to go back to my room. Maybe that’s something they can work on. It was a great stay, and all the employees were friendly.

We came back to Sheraton La Jolla after a good previous visit, so this disappointing stay was especially frustrating. The Wi-Fi failed on several devices, including our iPad and Fire TV Stick. After we called and went to the front desk, we were told the provider had recently changed configurations and the issue was affecting many guests, as well as the front desk staff. Even though they knew it was widespread, they gave us a technical support number and left us to sort it out. We don’t think guests should have to spend hours troubleshooting a hotel-wide infrastructure problem. When we asked the desk to call technical support for us, they handed us the phone because more customers were waiting. It was late, but we went back to the room and spent hours trying to get it fixed without success. Support only said they would try, and couldn’t assure us it would be resolved during our stay. We’d come for a short getaway, hoping to relax, use the iPad, and watch TV in the room. Instead, we spent the night dealing with the unresolved issue, and it had a real effect on our stay. The front desk interaction was uncomfortable and disrespectful, too. While I was speaking directly to him, the staff member addressed only my husband and didn’t acknowledge me. We deliberately returned because our last visit had been positive, but this stay fell far short in both service and guest support.
