Amsterdam Hostel

The price was great and the location worked really well. Everyone I met was easygoing, and we even went out for drinks together, lol. The front desk team were especially friendly and helped make my trip better. San Francisco also seemed much cleaner and safer than when I last visited two years ago. I’d happily recommend the hostel and plan to come back to SF next year.

I’d stay here again without hesitation. It had been years since my college hostel days, but I was pleasantly surprised by how modern and clean the rooms were, and my roommates were considerate. The central location made it easy to get around San Francisco, at about a fifth of what a regular hotel room would cost.

I’ve stayed here before, several years ago, and would come back. This time the room was clean and nice, though the blanket had red stains. The kitchen shuts at 10 pm, so a fridge in the room would be handy. The luggage room was so crowded that staff kept my bags in the office. I saw a review saying someone’s bag had been stolen, and the luggage room does make me uneasy: the door is electronically unlocked and nobody watches it. Some guests were noisy late at night, and the night staff weren’t very friendly.

The facilities were decent for the price, and the rooms were large and mostly clean. They were cleaned daily. There aren’t curtains, but a small section of wall gives you a bit of privacy. At check-in, reception handed over the bed linen for me to put on myself, which I didn’t like. I’m paying for accommodation and don’t want to have to make my own bed. I never went into the kitchen or laundry room, so I can’t comment on those.
