Days Inn by Wyndham San Francisco - Lombard

We were on a tight budget, but getting to public transit, food, parking, and sights was easy, so the trip didn't feel like a budget getaway. Having a microwave and a mini fridge with a freezer in the room meant we could bring food and spend less on eating out. The Inn was just what we needed: clean, simple, and affordable, with really friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommend.

Avoid this place. I booked well ahead and asked for two queen or double beds for four nights, a ground-floor room, and late check-in. They called the day before to say they could only do three nights, had no ground-floor room, and closed the lobby at 11pm. My flight gets in at 11:10. They couldn't accommodate what I'd booked and wouldn't offer anything off for the inconvenience. Avoid at all costs.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed it. The rooms are better than what I've had at other Days Inn locations, and reception offers a small breakfast of bananas, coffee, and protein bars. It's not much of a meal, but it was a welcome help. Gopi at the front desk was especially kind and clearly wanted us to enjoy San Francisco. He even wrote down places to go for the best of SF in a day.

After we checked out, the hotel accused us of taking towels and charged my card $25. Completely dishonest and unacceptable. Later, I saw many reviews saying the same hotel had charged guests without explanation. During our stay the room was extremely dirty, and the toilet was so filthy I couldn't use it that night. No staff were available for checkout the next morning, and the promised breakfast wasn't served. We later learned their so-called breakfast was coffee from a very dirty machine and a muffin, which was completely misleading. Their website promises a 24-hour front desk, but it wasn't available. Avoid this hotel.
