You get what you pay for. It was probably the cheapest room in SF, around 1000 bucks for a private room with a shared bathroom. The room was okay, and there weren’t many other guests while I was there, so the bathrooms weren’t heavily used. It’s within walking distance of a lot of tech companies. When I moved in, the management was new. Older reviews mentioned slow security deposit returns, but I got mine promptly, which was a plus. The old guy at reception was super rude. There were mice too, and management acted like it wasn’t their problem. They put down a couple of traps and left it at that, without dealing with the source, so I had to live with a couple of mice as roommates in my private room. They were more scared of me than I was of them and kept to themselves. The neighborhood can feel sketchy after work hours, though you get used to it, and that’s not something management can fix. There are lots of great food options and excellent transit nearby.

I had a pretty good stay, and the rooms were great. Luckily, my room had its own bathroom. We’d booked a room with two beds, but because of plumbing issues my family and I were told we’d need two rooms instead. I didn’t mind, though it caught me by surprise. The staff treated us with respect. I’d stay here again.

I arrived to a clean, nicely presented room, and it felt quite safe once inside. The location wasn’t great, but this was all I could get when hotels were going for $500-$1000 a night. It is what it is. The place is very basic: shared bathrooms, no room service during the stay, and the shampoo and body wash dispensers in the communal showers were empty.

The rooms were decent and clean, with a sink in the room, but the staff weren’t very personable. Parking was a real challenge, and there’s no entrance from Fell St, only Market. The property seems almost abandoned; I saw just one other guest over three days. The shared bathrooms were barely passable, and there’s nowhere to prepare or store food. The elevator was rickety and slow and needs servicing. The site says nothing about room deposits. Management asked for about a hundred, though they’d settle for 50.

The room rate was decent for SF, and it’s easy to get around from here, with plenty to walk to and Muni and BART nearby. The building seems like an old hotel or rooming house that’s been updated, with fresh paint, new carpets, and secure doors. But the windows were filthy, mine had no screen, and the unlevel floor left the old dresser drawers hanging open. That stretch of Market St is grimy, with unhoused people and lots of open drug use and people relieving themselves. SF has a tough time keeping that area clean. Don’t expect much hospitality. My room had no coffee maker, so I had to ask for one, and the staff seemed annoyed when I also asked for the coffee pods and cups. The shower had no soap, just one small bar by the in-room sink. There was no room changeover or fresh towels during my three nights. After the coffee maker issue, the staff seemed unwelcoming when I passed them. I’m not a high-maintenance traveler, but I felt unwelcome, and the hotel amenities were lacking.
