The staff were friendly and the location was alright, but there were a lot of problems. Our room door was barely secure. We had to push extremely hard to get it fully shut and locked. The elevator wasn't working, and nobody seemed to be working on it. None of the services advertised on the website were available, so call ahead to check if you need something. There was no soap in the room, including shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, or a pump, and the towels and sheets were stained. The windows had no screens or locks, even though we were on the third floor. We stayed three nights and no one once offered to clean the room. There was no working air conditioning or heat. Fisherman's Wharf was about a 30-minute walk away.

I left within half an hour of arriving. The elevator was out, the room had no heat and was freezing, and it looked nothing like the listing. At best, it felt like a dorm room: no carpet, wallpaper, or charm, and not even a bedspread. There were stains on the walls and headboard, the bedside shelves were disgusting, and the soap packets by the sink looked like they were left by the previous guests. None of the listed amenities were available. This was false advertising. I booked it for a night away because the rate seemed reasonable, the location looked nice, and the photos were cute. I knew it was going to be a joke before I even got upstairs. If I could give zero stars, I would.

For the price and location, I'd give it two stars. The area is good and the building has a lot of potential, but it needs professional help with renovations and operations. If Hotel Impossible were still on, I'd put this place near the top of the list. It could be a gem. I spent three nights in a room at the back of the building. Pigeons made strange noises outside all night, which made sleeping tough, and there was no heat, so it got cold. The linens and towels were stained and worn, and I found a few hairs by the floor and sink. The bed squeaked too. My room did have toiletries. To get hot water, I had to get up early and run it for about ten minutes.
