Motel Capri

Nik, his wife, and the team put a lot of effort into making your stay good. Some parts feel a bit tired, but the place is very clean, with fresh sheets and towels, and feels safe. There's a fabulous restaurant right across the street, and waterfront Pier 39 and downtown are convenient to reach. Great value, and I'd definitely stay again.

The bed and washroom seemed clean, and the room TV and internet are up to date. The windows, though, were very dirty. There's moisture in the rooms, a bit of a funky smell, and old curtains that can't be washed should be thrown out. The carpet should come out too. It's clearly not a young establishment, especially when “cable TV” is listed as a technology feature. The elevator wasn't working when I was there, and leaking garbage sat outside the main office beside the ice machine for quite a while.

The check-in man was welcoming, the rooms were spacious, and free parking was a nice perk. It's an affordable motel just off Lombard Street, and I'd return for the parking alone. The rooms are a little dated, especially the bathrooms. The elevator wasn't working, so after hiking more than 60 miles around Yosemite the previous week, hauling luggage up three flights was the last thing we wanted. The light breakfast was fine if you just want coffee or juice. Food choices were only bread and cereal.

A clean, quiet place with free off-street parking, and it's family owned. The prices are very reasonable. Great place to stay.
