For a private room in San Francisco, $90 a night was hard to beat. I mostly needed somewhere to lay my head, and it did the job, so I'd book again. I probably wouldn't have thought it worth more than $50, but thousands of Deadheads had come to San Fran that weekend, like locusts, so I understood the higher price. I stayed four nights in August. The place felt like stepping back into the 70s-80s. The location is excellent, near Haight-Ashbury, good cafes and restaurants, and an easy public transportation stop. Rooms are basic, but I knew that and felt the value was fair. My room had a comfortable bed and a sink, with two small circles of soap and several little towels. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. I didn't have time to watch TV because I was busy listening back to the shows, though I heard there are good channels. My room looked onto a courtyard; some rooms have bay windows. There's no AC, but nights get chilly, so opening the window gives you natural cooling. My toilet and shower were right across the hall. I had trouble getting hot water in that shower room, and the changing space was tight. Some shelves or extra places to hang bags would help. Down the hall, another bathroom had a toilet and tub, with better pressure and hotter water. I appreciated the locked entrance gate. Expect some stairs to reach your room, so consider your luggage weight. The walls are thin, but the neighborhood was fairly clean and quiet, with very few homeless people.

The owners were kind and responsive, and the rooms were clean. Nice budget hotel in a great area near the Castro. I'd stay again.

A family-run local hotel with a fantastic location and good prices for a budget stay. The staff were extremely friendly, and it made a great base for exploring SF.

For what it is, this place is pretty good, especially if you're in a pinch and need a decent clean room downtown. I paid around 89 a night at the last minute. It's cheap, the staff are polite and nice, and it was pretty quiet. The bathrooms and showers aren't in the room, that's what "European style" means. There's a sink in the room, the TV remote works, and towels are provided. Each floor has a shower and two bathrooms.
