A clean, airy little gem downtown, with free parking and an easy walk between the opera house and the consulates. Manager Biren Mahida was kind and accommodating. We had a midday appointment, and he let us check out late and leave the car parked until we got back. I'd also forgotten something in the room. When we returned for it, the item had already been found and was ready for me. That kind of service will bring us back.

The suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a couch, desk and chair, coffee table, and smart TV where we could log into YouTube and Netflix. The beds were firm and comfortable, and the shower was spacious. The tub can fit two, but the spa jets don't work because the plastic knob was removed. Staff said hotel policy is to keep the tubs unplugged after guests overflowed them. You'll need a drain plug and wrench to use the spa tub, which was disappointing. The water sometimes got scalding hot after about 20 minutes. We weren't looking for an accessible room, but ours was supposed to be one and had a four-inch step at the door, so it may not work for someone who needs accessibility. The people at the desk were kind and answered questions, especially the gentleman working after dark. There's a small hotel lot, plus a public garage a few blocks away. Restaurants are within walking distance, including one on the corner by the parking lot that we could see from our room. That's handy if, like me, you don't enjoy driving around a packed city and stopping on steep hills. It was a pleasant stay overall. The tub was the main downside, but not enough to make me ask for a refund. I called ahead, so I knew about the issue before arriving. I'd give it four stars, but don't pay extra for the spa tub unless you're willing to go against hotel policy.

A comfortable, recently renovated place in central San Francisco, and a good find if you want something affordable rather than fancy. Our room was cleaned every day, and the service was friendly and efficient. On-site parking was helpful, but it's first come, first served. The downtown sights are within walking distance, so it's a convenient place at a reasonable price. It isn't a luxury motel, but it does the job well.

The bed was clean and comfortable, and the rooms seem to have had a recent update even though the motel itself is old. The room and bathroom are small, so it's best if you just need an inexpensive place to sleep. There's free parking in a safe, well-lit lot, but spaces are limited and aren't guaranteed. I found that out the hard way. The receptionist kindly managed to squeeze me in, and I'd stay here again.

Our first stay was great: good customer service, a decent room, and a perfect location. We returned with our 18- and 21-year-olds and got a double king room that was impressively spacious, but there was a lot of mold under the heater along the wall and in the shower. Ventilation in the shower was poor, which didn't worry us much, but the heater was blowing air over the mold and our 18-year-old, who has asthma, started having symptoms. At checkout, the front desk person didn't seem concerned or apologetic when we showed pictures. He just said he'd tell maintenance. The hotel is also known as Symphony Inn. In October it had a different name, which was the name on our reservation. The location is still great, but after this visit we're not sure we'll return.
