Management always replied promptly. The rooms are small but surprisingly comfortable, with nice details and good equipment. There’s also a little outdoor deck. The decks on higher floors have a view and would be the more desirable choice.

The contactless process was smooth and simple, and the location puts you near loads of bars. There’s even a bar in the same building. The rooms felt clean, safe, and comfortable, with modern style and a quaint bit of character. This is one of the best hotel stays I’ve had. I hope to come back, though part of me wants to keep this hidden gem to myself. I can’t recommend it enough.

The room had a fun, stylish look and felt thoughtfully put together. My one small complaint is that the mattress could’ve been more comfortable, but I still had a great stay. From booking through checkout, everything went well. The arrival instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the location was convenient and accessible. I’d definitely consider staying again next time I’m in San Francisco.

We had some frustration checking in through the fully automated system, and it’s worth watching for charges that could be confusing, like a room damage waiver. A staff member contacted us afterward to apologize and help sort things out, which I appreciated. The hotel is right in the center of the Castro. Our room was small, though the bathroom was quite nice. Check out the roof garden/deck.

During my October 8th-October 10th stay at Hotel Castro, I was nearly devoured by BED BUGS. I didn’t realize what had happened until I was halfway through the drive home to Los Angeles, when I was so uncomfortable I almost scratched myself to death. Early in the stay, I saw several black marks on the white bed linens. I foolishly thought they were ink from a previous guest writing in a journal or doing a crossword puzzle. HUGE MISTAKE. They were in fact FECAL STAINS FROM BED BUGS. After getting home, I spent two days sanitizing my vehicle, luggage, and all my belongings. This stay at Hotel Castro was unequivocally traumatic. The location is handy, but there is absolutely NOTHING else to recommend it. I look forward to pursuing legal action against Hotel Castro and Kasa. NEVER STAY HERE!
