DoubleTree by Hilton San Jose

When I stayed for Fanimecon, the rooms were a little dated but had plenty of space. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel opened a text chat so I could ask questions or request room service. I’d forgotten to check the amenities before arriving, but Lamika and Taryn were especially helpful about getting a microwave and mini-fridge sent up. This is still my first choice when I attend Fanimecon, and I expect it’ll stay that way.

On my latest visit, something was wrong with my room, and Hernan stepped in right away. He handled it with kindness, professionalism, and real care, resolving everything quickly and making the stay better. He’s friendly and thoughtful, and clearly focused on giving guests a positive experience. I stay at the DoubleTree for work often, and I’m impressed every time by the service. Hernan oversees room service and the rooms, and he consistently goes above and beyond to make everything clean, comfortable, and welcoming. His customer service is outstanding and rare these days. I appreciate the pride he takes in his work and the dignity and care he brings to every interaction. He really shows what customer service should be. Major kudos for making my stays enjoyable.

I paid too much for the room, parking, and food. Parking costs extra, the carpet was dirty and stained, the rooms are old and dated, and the AC system was crap. The website pictures look like they’re from 20 years ago. I’m in San Jose often and chose it because it was a DoubleTree. Hard to believe. I won’t be back.

The rooms were dated, but we didn’t spend much time in them. The housekeeping crew was efficient and really nice, and the linens were good quality. Even the towels were fluffy and bigger than most hotel towels I’ve had. Front desk staff and breakfast employees were friendly and happy to handle requests. Thanks for the cookies and extra pillows! The gift shop staff were pleasant to talk with, and the UPS store owner sold my husband a cable so we could stream movies on the TV. Parking was easy in the large lot. There were quite a few hockey teams staying, but the hotel didn’t seem bothered by the kids, unlike some places. Uber and Lyft drivers showed up quickly and were friendly. Thank you, Doubletree, keep it up.
