Hotel Kilbourne Downtown Sandusky

Gerry at the front desk was especially lovely and made us feel welcome, and the service was excellent throughout. My partner and I stayed two nights in the loft while visiting Cedar Point, and Hotel Kilbourne was lovely. It's a gem of a boutique hotel. The room was roomy, comfortable, clean, and beautifully styled. We'll definitely be back!

The rooftop bar was a highlight for us, the view is really worth checking out. We also found the staff warm and welcoming, and the restaurant downstairs looked inviting, though we didn't eat there. This little boutique hotel is right by Jackson Street Pier and has a bold, modern look, with black walls and an exposed brick accent. Our room was on the small side, but it was plenty for my husband and me. The bathroom was roomy enough and up to date, and everything was clean. The bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. The curtains blocked every bit of light, something we hadn't experienced at a hotel before, and we slept great. We'd happily come back.

The room was clean and okay, but it was freezing because the fireplace heater didn't work. There wasn't any hand soap in the bathroom either. The desk attendant tried to sort it out but couldn't. We weren't offered a discount the next day, which was disappointing.

We had the loft because it was the only room left when I booked. The only things that kept this from being five stars were a stale water kind of smell by the window sofa, like there may have been water damage, and a balcony view of the parking lot. There was an almost five-foot wall blocking much of the view, presumably to keep you from falling. 🤷🏼‍♀️😕
