Haley Hotel

We woke up with ants all over us and all through our things, including the bed, bags, shower, and toothbrushes. We killed hundreds before someone from the front desk showed up about ten minutes before checkout with a tiny spray bottle. It felt absurdly inadequate. I’ve never been that close to an insect colony. I tried contacting the hotel on several platforms and got no reply. They eventually offered $149 back on a one-night stay that cost $370, then took the partial refund back after I raised the issue with Airbnb. I understand the property is under investigation to be removed from listings, though that may not be the case. The nautical decor felt like lipstick on a pig, and the pig was crawling with ants. Staff response was practically for show. If you like insects and disappointment, this may be your place. Otherwise, run.

The room layout worked really well for us, with minimal furniture but enough spots to set down our bags and other things. Everyone on staff was helpful and encouraged us to use the amenities. The toilet was very low and there were some worn areas in the bathroom, so I wouldn't give the room five stars, but I still had an excellent stay and will definitely come back.

The room looked great and it’s a cool spot, but my stay was a mixed bag. After a long drive from Santa Ynez, I found the front door locked. It was dark, and I could barely make out the sign saying the front desk person was on break. Later, after dinner, I came back and went to bed, only to find the room really cold. I couldn't get the heat working.

We’ve stayed here twice now and will definitely return. The grounds have fun games, the rooms are clean and well equipped, and the location is great. The staff are especially warm and welcoming.
