Palmoro House

The location is great, but the people were horrible. Watch every charge they try to slip in. I prepaid through Priceline, which didn’t mention the $35-per-night resort fee. I wouldn’t mind paying it if the amenities were actually at the hotel, instead of three blocks away. You get taken there by golf cart, and the driver looked like he was drunk driving. He couldn’t get out of the parking lot without hitting every curb. It was embarrassing for the hotel and for us to watch.

The room was a pretty standard motel room, and the air conditioner kept switching on and off all night trying to hold the setting. It stayed humid and sticky no matter how long it ran. The elevator, hallways, and common areas smelled like a mix of mold and cigarettes. This also isn’t at the main Hyatt property and seemed to be missing some of the updates listed. We booked through the World of Hyatt app but felt pretty misled by the situation. We canceled the second night and moved to another brand up the road.

The room was okay, but the old aluminum window frame looked like something from the 1970s and had no locks. Someone could easily have opened it from outside if they wanted to. There were no safety or security features on it at all. And, as others have mentioned, there were no hooks in the bathroom for towels. Keep in mind that check-in is a few blocks away at the Mar Monte hotel. Palmoro House has no front desk or staff on site. The bigger issue was the bill: I booked and already paid through Priceline, but the hotel charged me almost $900 for two nights. They added occupancy tax, tourism marketing assessment, tourism assessment, and some miscellaneous fee, whatever that means. I contacted Priceline and am waiting for them to resolve it. Their customer support called the hotel, but no one was available to help, so Priceline is escalating it. Hopefully I’ll get a refund within 3-5 days once they make contact.

The location was great value, just a couple of minutes from the beach in a private, gated area. My room was spacious, updated, and lovely, with a cozy balcony. The large bathroom was very clean, and there were luxurious cotton robes and full-size hair products in the shower. The TV was large and fairly new. I had trouble with the digital key, but customer service gladly sent a valet over with key cards. There’s free street parking. The property is away from the main hotel, Mar Monte, and has no lobby.
