SureStay Plus by Best Western Santa Clara Silicon Valley

We chose this as an affordable place near the airport for one night before an early flight out of San Jose international. The room was decent, the bed was comfortable, and the heating and cooling both worked quietly. Free breakfast was better than I expected, especially the eggs and sausage. There isn’t much else to expect, like a hotel bar or gym, but the location is convenient and it’s a good budget option.

The parking was inconvenient, and the stay wasn’t at all what I expected for two nights. The water pressure was terrible, and the TV kept cutting out to a black screen and going quiet, so it was impossible to watch. The comforter was about as thick as a throw blanket, maybe a thick sheet. Floors were dirty, and the microwave and fridge hadn’t been wiped down before we arrived. There’s also a man who lives in one of the rooms, which made it feel more like a motel than a “hotel,” especially for a place presented as “best western.” I’m not someone who usually leaves reviews, but this hotel isn’t what it seems. I absolutely won’t stay again.

The one thing that was hard to use was breakfast in the lobby. From a seated position, it would be difficult to reach most of the food. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend this place for wheelchair users and other travelers. I can walk short distances, but use a wheelchair when traveling, and this is one of the best accessible rooms I’ve used. It’s spacious, with two beds, solid surface floors, and a large bathroom with a roll-in shower and shower seat. The fridge, microwave, and bathroom and wardrobe storage are reachable from a chair. Bed height is 20 inches, and there are 7 inches from the floor to the bed frame. A Hoyer lift might not fit. There’s a sofa, and the coffee and end table are light enough to move easily. The room was clean, the location near San Jose Airport was convenient, and parking was reasonable, with a handicap space right in front of the room.

We loved our stay! The area felt pretty safe and quiet, the staff were super friendly, and the rooms were modern, roomy, and clean. Breakfast in the lobby was tasty and had a good variety of food, which was convenient. We’ll definitely stay here again when we’re back in town.
