Hampton Inn Los Angeles/Santa Clarita

I stayed for the first time on January 10, 2025, and won’t return. Our sink wouldn’t drain, the toilet was backed up, and getting a comfortable shower temperature was impossible. It was either really hot or really cold. The hotel was full, so we had to put up with the room overnight. I was told to talk to the morning manager, who I remember being called George. He didn’t seem receptive or proactive and wasn’t going to do anything about the problems. I was given the name George, though it may not have been accurate. He was the morning manager, appeared to be Black and in his 30s. Luckily, I called Hilton’s corporate office and got help that I should have received from him. The whole thing was disappointing.

There are loads of restaurants and fast food places nearby, and the location is great. We didn’t go to Six Flags, but enjoyed the nice mountain feel. Kyle at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was the small window, which left the room quite dark.

It felt like an upgraded Motel 6, maybe an old assisted living facility. My sense of smell is stronger than most, and the place had a nursing-home kind of aroma, musky or moldy, just old. I couldn’t tell if it smelled like rats and roaches or something else nasty. The room looked up to date and was clean, but something about the hotel still made me feel dirty. The bed was like steel. It was right by the bathroom, and the low popcorn ceiling made the room feel dated. If you only need a roof over your head, it’s okay. If you want to relax and feel comfortable, run!

A good place to stay near LA, especially if you’re visiting Universal Studios. We were looking for somewhere close by after going to Universal, and staying here turned out to be a good decision. Breakfast was very good, with lots of options, hot items, fruit, and food for kids. The rooms were clean and had daily service. The pool was open and the water temperature was maintained. There’s a good restaurant nearby.
