We got exactly the weekend escape we wanted. Sarah greeted us right away and showed us around, sharing history and fun facts on the tour. We were the only guests on the first night, and it felt like being catered to in our own mansion during the gilded age. Chad kicked off each morning with a fantastic breakfast and upbeat conversation that made us feel right at home. The staff gave our off-season visit all the flair and hospitality of a mid-summer vacation. So glad we came!

We barely used the downstairs spaces we’d been looking forward to, since they were taken over by a public Halloween party. The live music ran from 7 to 10 p.m. and was loud enough to hear clearly on the second floor. We’d booked Union Gables Inn for our anniversary hoping for the private, intimate feel we’d enjoyed at a similar B&B before. The place looked cute when we arrived, and we’d planned to spend time in the billiards room and common area. We saw the Facebook post about the paid dinner that evening and figured it might be a little odd but wouldn’t affect us much. It turned out to be a full party too. I understand wanting to host events, but it would’ve been better to do this when guests hadn’t paid much more than $50 to stay. We were so ready to go home that we skipped breakfast. Very disappointing stay.

The Bill room was a great choice, though we didn’t see a bad room in the house. We spent time every day playing Bocce on the lawn before heading out, then shooting pool in the private parlor before bed. We also loved the unexpected presence of Baguette. My wife and I stayed four nights around the third week of September during an anniversary trip, and felt welcome as soon as we arrived. Justin and Laura, the partners, are warm, capable hosts who clearly understand hospitality. Justin made a fine supper club dinner, and breakfast had plenty of good choices each morning. Chad, who handled the morning breakfast routine, was outstanding, great to talk with, knowledgeable about the area, and just as welcoming as Justin and Laura. If you’re in Saratoga Springs, this is the place. I’d recommend it with confidence.

The staff were really friendly, and the pool table on the first floor made for a fun place to hang out together. This cute inn has plenty of character, with a different story in each room. It’s not far from downtown Saratoga.

We loved how comfortable and clean our room was, and this historic bed and breakfast made a lovely spot for our wedding anniversary getaway. Sarah showed us around the grounds, Chad, her husband, cooked breakfast each morning, and Justin bartended at a Halloween gathering. We’ll be back!
