Days Inn Schenectady

I was sent here by DSS because I was homeless, and honestly, the streets felt better than this place. The building and rooms were disgusting, the people and atmosphere were wild, and the staff were rude and no help. I had to clean my own room, and the towel came away brown and dirty. While I was sleeping, a man who worked at the front desk came into my room without knocking and asked if I was alone. I also had bed bugs, and saw a roach crawl up the bathtub while I was showering. In the elevator, I saw a woman hit her toddler. A toddler with no shoes was going up and down alone, and an infant in a dirty diaper was banging and crying at a window. Disgusting. Don't stay here.

We were traveling toward Maine and stopped here for a night's rest. The room and hotel were so bad we ran out without staying, and they kept what we paid. The area didn't feel safe. There was no receptionist in sight, and the reception area smelled strongly of marijuana and cigarettes. The elevator was filthy, with leftover McDonald's food on the floor and vandalism everywhere. Smoke from cigarettes and marijuana filled the hallway, and I suspected people might be using drugs there too. There were blood stains on the room carpet and bedsheet, and cockroaches and bed bugs throughout the room. The whole experience was awful. I wouldn't go back to this hotel or this part of New York. It felt unsafe.

The lobby kicked me out after midnight, and I was left there with three teenagers. I'd booked through Expedia, but while trying to check in I was charged 100 bucks without authorization. Expedia refunded me right away on their end, but I'm still trying to get the charge refunded four months later. It was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I'd give the place zero stars if I could. Never stay here.

The owner seems like a pretty laid-back man. I don't really have any complaints. I work, and my children are very chill, so we're comfortable here. I've seen a lot of snobby reviews, but maybe some people should try showing a little respect. Thanks to the owner for giving my children a safe environment. I appreciate it.
