The shower barely got warm, and the air conditioner felt like it was set to 85. When I complained, they said nothing could be done. I found what looked like bedbug evidence on the bed and a tick on the bathroom counter. The woman I spoke to said I must have been mistaken because they have an exterminator every month. The website also advertises a pool, but there isn’t one. I wish I could give this place zero stars or see it shut down.

The staff were friendly and professional, and my room was clean and mostly finished. It’s also conveniently close to downtown and the main highway. The hotel is being renovated, so I’m not going to dwell on the things that weren’t up to par during the work. The rates are the best in town, but there are two catches that brought my rating to four stars. They require a $100 security deposit, refunded after checkout, which felt steep for this place. And if you book five nights but leave early, they won’t refund the unused nights.

For the price, it’s hard to beat. My room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioner worked well. I could’ve used a couple more pillows. They supplied shampoo, soap, lotion, toilet paper, plenty of towels and washcloths. There was cable on the flat screen, plus Wi-Fi that I didn’t try. I also didn’t test the microwave or mini fridge, so I can’t say if either worked. I paid a $100 deposit by card and still need to check whether the hold comes off.

The pool wasn’t working, and there was no breakfast or ice machine. They’d promised fresh coffee in the morning, but nobody was up even at 8:30. The rooms were in bad shape. Our kids’ feet got dirty just from walking on the carpet, and the supposed non-smoking rooms smelled of smoke. The comforter had cigarette burns, too.
