We usually stop in Milk River on our way to Arizona, but the hotel was full and we couldn’t get a room. That turned out to be the best thing that happened. I love Best Western hotels for being clean, friendly, and reasonably priced, and the front desk service here in Shelby was top notch.

There are RV pads behind the hotel, which is a nice bonus. They don’t offer much shade or privacy, though. The place looked great and was clean, mostly quiet, and nice overall. The beds felt a bit worn, and you could hear a low metal grinding sound from the trains. I’m a very light sleeper, so it stood out to me.

Mrs. Peterson brought out a delicious, warm breakfast, and there were gluten-free options. Everyone was pleasant. It’s a convenient place to park a semi truck and trailer in front of the hotel, with a clinic next door and Family Dollar nearby if you need anything.

The room was spotless, and the facility felt like a nice oasis in a town that seemed pretty rough around the edges. The young woman at check-in was delightful, friendly, and very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay, then took Hwy 2 toward Glacier’s east entrance the next morning, where reservations aren’t required, at Saint Mary.

A good hot breakfast was served by helpful attendants, and the pool and hot tub were clean. The front desk receptionists were really nice, too. The parking lot is a little rough, but it wasn’t a big deal. It worked perfectly for an overnight stop between East Glacier National Park and the Great Falls airport.
